Golf Shop Operations Further update – Member Card Competition Registering coming soon

Dear Member,

I just wanted to make you aware there will be a new procedure coming soon for registering for Club Competitions in the Golf Shop.

In the above image you will notice the two terminals are now in a different location from their usual spot.  When it commences we ask if you could please register yourself using one of these terminals by tapping your Member card on the RFID readers next to the keyboards.  This will then prompt you to proceed and register in the the daily competition.  What it will also do is decrement the applicable competition fee from account, as you have used your member card.

If members could please remember to carry their member card at all times to assist with this new procedure.  If you need to top up your account you will soon be able to in the Golf Shop but in the meantime please continue to use the bar to top up your account.

Staff will be on hand to assist members with the new registering procedure when it becomes available.

As you are aware, Michael Faraone’s fantastic 17 years as the Club Professional here at Mornington came to an end on Sunday 14 April

I am sure you can appreciate there is quite a bit of work involved with the transition to the Club taking over the operations of the shop.

As we will be keeping the Shop open during this transitional period, we just ask that members are understanding that there may be some slight disruptions to the normal day to day running for a few days.

Thank you in advance.

Wow, what a day we had for the 2024 Tee up for Cancer Charity Day!

The 2024 Tee up for Cancer Charity Day was an amazing success from start to finish.

We had 130 ladies playing in this hugely popular event from all over Victoria and the day started with pre shotgun start refreshments.

There were lots of fun things set up around the course including a champagne and cheese tee, a tee shot from the pro, Michael Faraone, nearest the pins, mulligans and more.

The day would not have been possible without the very generous donations from hundreds of business around Australia. Thank you so much to each and every one of you.  The list of Donors can be viewed HERE.

A massive amount of planning and organisation goes into this day and it would not run so smoothly and we would not raise anywhere near as much money as we do without the incredible efforts from Marg Hancock and her Charity Day Committee.  You have done the Club proud, once again.  Well done ladies.

The team of volunteers that help throughout the day deserve a special mention as well. Your assistance with raking bunkers and ball spotting go a long way to ensure the success of the day. Thank you all.

We had a trading table, silent auctions, loud auctions ran by special guest auctioneer, Brenda Atkin, raffles and donations on course.  The final amount raised for this day is still to be confirmed but we are closing in on a magical $24,500 figure.  A sensational amount raised for Cancer Council Victoria and valuable funds to be used to beat this horrible disease.

The golf, as always, is secondary to the fund raising but we had some wonderful scores and congratulations to all the winners.

Well done everyone!

Matt wins the April Medal!

The Men’s April Medal was played on Saturday in very testing conditions.

The event is generously sponsored each month by Tar Bar Brewery and Distillery who provide a prize of 18 delicious Tar Barrell Pale Ales and Lagers.  The owner of Tar Barrell is Matt Bebe who has won the April Medal with a sensational score of Nett 69!!

What a popular winner Matt is and a wonderful sponsor and supporter of Mornington Golf Club.

Matt and Tar Barrell sponsor many events throughout the year including 64-1, Ladies and Men’s Medals, the inaugural Twilight 9’s event and the Men’s Pennant Team.  A great Clubman and a well deserved first Medal win.

Matt generously gave the beers away to one of the grade winners in the bar at presentations.

Well done Matt!

EMPTY GLASSES / CIGARETTE BUTTS

EMPTY GLASSES
Members are reminded that any glasses that have been removed from the bar must be returned to the bar.  Unfortunately there has been an increase in the number of empties left around the golf course, in particular on the 1st and 10th tees.

This is a terrible look and very unnecessary.  If you must take a glass from the bar please put it in your golf bag and return it to the bar at the end of the round.

CIGARETTE BUTTS
Cigarette butts do not belong in sand buckets or thrown away on the course.  They should always be disposed of carefully in the many bins that we have around the course.

Cigarette butts are also a potential fire hazard when not disposed of correctly.

Cigarette buttes in sand buckets are unsightly and will likely end up in a filled divot which is not acceptable.

It is important that we keep our golf course tidy and all members play a part in this.

Your cooperation in both of these matters is appreciated.
