Ladies Pennant Round 4 Result
Our Division 1 Ladies had a great win in round 4 of the Div 1 Pennant but unfortunately they missed out on making the final by 1/2 a point.
It was a gallant effort in their mission to retain the flag but unfortunately it was not to be in 2024.

EMPTY GLASSES / CIGARETTE BUTTS
EMPTY GLASSES
Members are reminded that any glasses that have been removed from the bar must be returned to the bar. Unfortunately there has been an increase in the number of empties left around the golf course, in particular on the 1st and 10th tees.
This is a terrible look and very unnecessary. If you must take a glass from the bar please put it in your golf bag and return it to the bar at the end of the round.
CIGARETTE BUTTS
Cigarette butts do not belong in sand buckets or thrown away on the course. They should always be disposed of carefully in the many bins that we have around the course.
Cigarette butts are also a potential fire hazard when not disposed of correctly.
Cigarette buttes in sand buckets are unsightly and will likely end up in a filled divot which is not acceptable.
It is important that we keep our golf course tidy and all members play a part in this.
Your cooperation in both of these matters is appreciated.

PRO SHOP/ GOLF OPERATIONS UPDATE
Dear Members
Following the resignation of Club Professional, Michael Faraone in January, the Board of Directors, Finance Subcommittee and Management have been discussing at length the best option for the Club with regards to the Golf Shop operations.
The Board of Directors and Finance Subcommittee looked at two options.
Option 1 – The contracted Club Professional Model
This option would mean the Club would replace Michael with another PGA Professional who would take over the Pro Shop as a contracted pro. This would retain the status quo and there would be no change to the Pro Shop operations other than personnel.
Option 2 – The Club takes over the running of the Golf Operations
This option would mean the Club would take over and manage the entire Golf Shop operations, including retail, internally. All expenses, revenue and profits would become part of the Clubs business and operations. The Club would also contract teaching Professionals to provide lessons and clinics to members and visitors.
The Board and Finance Subcommittee discussed both options at length and reviewed the Pro Shop financials for the previous 12 months (which Michael kindly provided to us) and did some financial modelling based on the Club running the Golf Shop operations. It was decided that the Club having complete control of the Golf Shop Operations would be an attractive proposition and could provide the Club with additional revenue and profit going forward.
The unanimous decision was therefore made that the Club would take over the running of the Golf Shop operations when Michael finishes his tenure in mid-April. The Club will continually review the financial performance of the Golf Shop to ensure that it is indeed the best option for the Club and for member services going forward.
To enable the Club to take over the running of the Golf Shop Operations there will be a restructure of our current staff and I am pleased to announce that our Assistant Manager, Jim Martin will be taking on a new role and will be in charge of managing the Golf Shop Operations from April.
With Jim relocating to the Golf Shop there will be a gap to fill in the office which we are currently working through and we have a new staff member close to joining our team. Further details will follow on this and also additional staffing changes for the Golf Shop. This is a very exciting opportunity for Jim and one that we know he will embrace and thrive at. We are sure that having a familiar face running the golf shop will also be appreciated by members.
The transition from Michael running the Golf Shop as a contractor to the Club running the Golf Shop internally will take some time and there will likely be some disruption to normal services. Members are asked to be patient as we venture into this new and exciting opportunity for the Club.
Further updates will be provided in due course but we felt that it was important to let our members know what the plans are for the Golf Shop as soon as possible.
If anyone has any questions regarding this news please do not hesitate to contact me.
