2026 Women’s Club Championships – Final Round Report

The 2026 Women’s Club Championships concluded in terrific fashion, with outstanding golf played across all three grades and a fantastic celebration of women’s golf at Mornington Golf Club.

A strong field contested the Championship over three rounds, with the final leaderboard highlighting both consistency and composure under pressure.

A Grade – Championships

Abby Coombes has etched her name further into Mornington Golf Club history, claiming her 4th Women’s Club Championship with rounds of 83, 82 and a superb final round 74 to finish on 239

Abby’s closing 74 was the best round of the championship and a new course record, and demonstrated her experience and class when it mattered most. Winning four Club Championships is an extraordinary achievement and firmly places Abby among the Club’s elite.

Finishing runner-up was Jen Quinlan (84-78-79) with a total of 241, only two shots behind Abby after a gallant effort on the back 9.

3rd – Lorraine Theofanis (248)

4th – June Tickell (255)

5th – Sue Evans (263)

The strength at the top of A Grade continues to raise the bar each year.

B Grade

Congratulations to Jan Vogel, who claimed the B Grade Championship with rounds of 97, 98 and 99 for a total of 294

2nd – Melissa Glenn (303)

3rd – Jenny Low (303)

4th – Ros Wight (304)

5th – Sue Pratt (306)

A tightly contested division, with only 12 shots separating the top five — a great reflection of the competitiveness within the grade.

C Grade

In C Grade, Susan Peck emerged victorious with rounds of 105, 102 and 105 for a winning total of 312

Susan’s steady performance across all three rounds secured her Championship ahead of:

4th – Chris Tunbridge (342)

The improvement and enthusiasm within C Grade continues to strengthen the women’s competition at MGC.
