Dear Members,

With the great weather and strong competition fields we’ve been enjoying, it’s more important than ever that we all do our part to maintain a steady pace of play. Slow play not only affects your group but also every group on the course, reducing the overall enjoyment of the day.

Here are a few simple ways you can help keep things moving:

  • Be on time to the tee – Arrive at least 5 minutes before your nominated hit-off time.

  • Be ready to play – Use waiting time to plan your shot so you’re ready when it’s your turn.

  • Play promptly – Aim to hit within 40 seconds once it’s your turn.

  • Keep up with the group ahead – Your pace is measured against the group in front, not the group behind.

  • Manage lost balls efficiently – If in doubt, play a provisional to avoid delays.

  • Be organised around the green – Park buggies or bags on the exit side to move quickly to the next tee.

We all want to play our best golf, but with a little mindfulness, we can ensure competitions remain fair, enjoyable, and efficient for everyone.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to seeing you on the course.

Warm regards,

MGC Match Subcommittee
