Hole 13

The longest par five on the course, the 13th snakes to the right and then to the left as it follows a ravine toward Port Phillip Bay. The hole tests both your ball striking ability as well as your patience and decision making.

From the mens tee the drive is semi-blind across the corner of the hazard, with a string of bunkers to catch those who slice their drive, or miss hit the ball slightly.

Aside from the ravine, the primary challenge of the 13th hole is a push-up green site and a steeply leaning fairway that encourages drives out to the left, which then brings a row of tall trees into play.

Though tempting to try an heroic hook shot, those who drive left off the tee really should lay up and accept a longer approach. As members know all too well, that approach shot is complicated by a small green that demands precision, but is very tricky to hit and hold. Thankfully, there are wonderful views from this green site – to help distract you from the bogeys.
