Hole 3

A favourite among the Mornington membership, the 3rd hole is a mid-length par four with a fairly awkward tee shot, but a lovely approach.

Making things challenging from the tee is a dam down the right hand side, and a fairway that also leans aggressively to the right. Drives are best played well down the left side, or with a club that doesn’t quite reach the water.

The approach is then a real feature of the course, with shots often played from a downhill lie and needing to avoid giant gums that guard the inside corner of the fairway, as well as bunkers that protect either side of an angled green. The green slopes noticeably from back to front, so keeping your ball below the hole is essential if you hope to leave yourself with a makeable birdie putt.
